A recognised connection to the national body
Affiliation creates a formal relationship between an OCR club and OCRA, and makes the club part of the national structure of the sport.
What it gives a club
Recognition as an OCRA Affiliated Club, inclusion in the club directory, and promotion through OCRA channels.
Access to coaching and Technical Official development as those pathways open. Club development support. Information on events, competitions, National Championships and international qualification. Opportunities to collaborate on OCRA programmes, and connections to other clubs and facilities.
Your club stays your club
Affiliation does not mean OCRA runs or controls the day-to-day activity of an affiliated club. Clubs remain responsible for their own management, activities, finances and members.
What it provides is a recognised relationship and a route into national decisions about the sport — not a reporting line.
Who can apply
OCR clubs and established obstacle training communities operating in Ireland. Requirements depend on the structure and activities of the club, but expect to provide the club name and location, contact details, how the club is structured, what training you run, who coaches, your membership arrangements, and relevant club policies.
Where the club runs activities for children or young people, safeguarding arrangements are part of the application rather than something to sort out afterwards.
What is expected in return
Affiliated clubs are expected to operate in a way that supports safe, fair and inclusive participation — respecting applicable OCRA policies and maintaining appropriate standards within club activities.
Working together
A strong national sport needs strong local clubs. OCRA wants affiliated clubs to stay independent while working together where national coordination genuinely helps: athlete and coach development, youth development, competition, technical standards, safeguarding and community programmes.
