Championships.

Competing at Championship Level

The Obstacle Course Racing Association of Ireland (OCRA ÉIREANN) supports Irish athletes progressing from national competition to major international obstacle sport championships.

Championship racing offers athletes the opportunity to test themselves at the highest level of the sport, compete for national titles and represent Ireland internationally.

Irish National Championships

OCRA supports the development of recognised Irish National Championships across obstacle sport disciplines.

National Championships may be organised directly by OCRA or delivered in partnership with approved race organisers.

Depending on the competition programme, championships may include different race formats and categories, including short-format obstacle racing, longer OCR courses, Age Group competition, Elite competition, youth competition and other recognised disciplines.

Each National Championship will publish specific information covering:

  • Date and location
  • Available disciplines
  • Categories and Age Groups
  • Eligibility
  • Registration
  • Competition rules
  • Schedule
  • Qualification implications
  • Awards and results

International Championships

Irish athletes may have opportunities to compete at European, World and other recognised international obstacle sport championships.

Entry requirements vary between championships.

Some competitions require qualification or National Federation nomination, while others allow open registration for particular categories or disciplines.

OCRA will publish championship-specific information for Irish athletes, including:

  • Competition dates
  • Host location
  • Available disciplines
  • Categories and Age Groups
  • Qualification requirements
  • Registration deadlines
  • Team Ireland information
  • Competition rules
  • Important athlete information

Qualifying for International Competition

Where qualification is required, athletes must follow the OCRA qualification pathway applicable to that championship.

Qualification requirements can change between championships and seasons, so athletes should always refer to the current qualification information rather than relying on criteria from a previous year.

Qualification

Representing Ireland

Athletes who meet the relevant requirements and are selected, nominated or registered to represent Ireland may form part of Team Ireland.

Information about current teams, athlete requirements and previous Irish teams can be found within the Team Ireland section.

Team Ireland

Current Championships

This section will feature championships that are currently open, upcoming or relevant to Irish athletes.

For each championship, athletes will be able to find the information they need to understand:

  • Whether they can enter
  • Whether qualification is required
  • How qualification works
  • Important deadlines
  • Available race formats
  • Team Ireland requirements

Championship Archive

OCRA maintains historical information from previous National, European and World-level competitions involving Irish athletes.

The archive helps preserve the history of Irish obstacle sport and may include:

  • Team Ireland selections
  • Results
  • Medal performances
  • Qualification information
  • Rulebooks
  • Competition schedules
  • Event information

Historical qualification criteria and rules apply only to the championship and season for which they were published.

They should not be treated as current competition requirements.
