OCR events in Ireland
Ireland has a growing calendar of obstacle racing, from first-timer events through to qualification races for international championships.
Alongside races organised by OCRA, the calendar includes independent events such as Hard as Oak, Rampage, Hell & Back, Spartan and Turf Warrior. OCRA works alongside their organisers rather than in competition with them — a bigger calendar is the point.
Find your next race
Irish obstacle racing runs from large recreational mud runs to technical competitive races. Distances, obstacle difficulty, categories and rules all vary between organisers, so read the individual event information before you register.
The OCRA Events Calendar pulls these together and shows which events are recreational, which are competitive, and which count towards qualification.
What the labels mean
Every event on the calendar carries one of these. They are not interchangeable.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Listed | An independently run event on the OCRA calendar. OCRA has not reviewed the competition. |
| OCRA Sanctioned | Reviewed against the standards for its level of competition. |
| OCRA Qualification Event | Results count towards qualification for a named international championship. |
| Irish National Championship | Irish titles are on the line, in the disciplines named on the listing. |
Only OCRA can grant the last three, and only in writing. A listing on the calendar creates none of them.
How the statuses work in full is on Event Recognition & Sanctioning. What they mean for your own international entry is on Qualification.
Irish National Championships
OCRA may run National Championships directly or with an established race organiser. Either way they are identified in the calendar, with the disciplines and categories on offer.
See Championships for what is currently open.
Organise an event?
OCRA would rather grow the whole sport than only run its own races. See working with OCRA for the ways an event can connect to the national pathway, or submit an event to get it on the calendar.
