OCR Events in Ireland
The Obstacle Course Racing Association of Ireland (OCRA ÉIREANN) supports and promotes obstacle racing opportunities across Ireland.
Whether you are looking for your first OCR event, a recreational challenge, competitive racing or a pathway towards international competition, Ireland has a growing calendar of obstacle sport events for a wide range of ages and abilities.
Events across Ireland include races organised by OCRA as well as independent events such as:

- Rampage
- Hell & Back
- Spartan
- Turf Warrior
OCRA aims to work alongside race organisers across Ireland to help grow the sport, provide more opportunities for athletes and create a stronger national competition calendar.
Find Your Next Race
Obstacle racing in Ireland ranges from large recreational events and mud runs to technical competitive races and qualification events.
Each event is different. Distances, obstacle difficulty, categories and competition rules vary between organisers, so athletes should always review the individual event information before registering.
The OCRA Events Calendar brings these opportunities together in one place and helps athletes identify which events are recreational, competitive or part of an official qualification pathway.
OCRA Sanctioned Events
Some events may be formally sanctioned by OCRA.
An OCRA Sanctioned Event has worked with OCRA and meets the requirements applicable to its level and type of competition.
Sanctioning can help create greater consistency between events and provides race organisers with an opportunity to connect their event with the wider national development of obstacle sport.
Qualification Events
Where qualification is required for an international championship, Irish athletes must qualify through an OCRA-approved qualification route.
At present, OCRA-organised qualification events form the recognised Irish qualification pathway.
Taking part in another OCR event does not automatically provide international qualification, even where the event is listed on the OCRA website.
OCRA is open to working with independent race organisers who would like their events to become sanctioned or recognised qualification events.
Where an event has been approved for qualification purposes, this will be clearly stated on the event listing.
Open Registration Championships
Not every international competition requires athletes to qualify.
Some championships, disciplines or categories may allow athletes to register directly without completing an Irish qualification event.
Where this applies, OCRA will make this clear within the relevant championship and qualification information.
Irish National Championships
OCRA may organise Irish National Championships directly or work with established race organisers to host National Championship competition.
National Championships provide athletes with an opportunity to compete for Irish titles within recognised obstacle sport disciplines.
Current National Championships will be clearly identified within the Events Calendar.
For Race Organisers
OCRA wants to build strong and constructive relationships with race organisers throughout Ireland.
Our goal is to grow the overall sport rather than limit competition to events organised directly by OCRA.
Race organisers can work with OCRA in a number of ways, including:
- Listing an event on the OCRA calendar
- Applying for OCRA sanctioning
- Applying for qualification event status
- Working with OCRA Technical Officials
- Hosting recognised competitive racing
- Exploring Irish National Championship opportunities
- Developing longer-term partnerships with OCRA
