Team Ireland.

Wearing the green

Representing Ireland at an international obstacle sport championship is the highest competitive achievement available in the sport here. Team Ireland brings together athletes across different disciplines, categories and Age Groups.

Getting selected

The route depends on the championship. Depending on the competition, you may need to meet nationality and eligibility requirements, hold current OCRA membership, compete in the correct category, qualify through an approved event, achieve a required standard, and complete registration by the deadline.

Some international competitions allow direct or open registration in particular categories instead. OCRA publishes the requirements for each championship as they are confirmed.

Where qualification applies, Qualification is the page that governs it.

Current team

Once a team is confirmed for a championship, OCRA publishes the selection — athlete, discipline, category and Age Group, with club or training affiliation where the athlete wants it shown.

Athlete profiles, team announcements and championship updates follow in the lead-up to the competition.

What is expected of you

Team Ireland athletes are held to the Codes of Conduct like everyone else, with some additions that come with selection: following team management instructions, complying with anti-doping obligations including the championship organiser's own, and using national team clothing as required.

Before you travel

OCRA provides selected athletes with the operational detail: registration deadlines, accreditation, competition schedules, technical briefings, team meetings, national team clothing, travel and accommodation guidance, championship rules, ceremonies and team contacts.

Some of that goes to registered athletes directly rather than being published.

Previous teams

OCRA keeps a permanent record of the athletes who have represented Ireland — rosters, championships attended, disciplines, categories, results, medals and team photographs.

That archive is a real part of the history of the sport here, and it is worth keeping properly.
