Age groups are divided into 5-year categories up to the age of the oldest competitor for both Short and Standard courses.
For Over 16 athletes, the age is calculated on Dec 31st 2025;
For Under 16 athletes, the age is calculated ON RACE DAY;
An athlete who is 15yo on race day but turns 16 on or before December 31st 2025 will race in the Youth 14/15 category. Athletes who are 15 years old on race day and turn 16 in 2025 may be allowed to compete in the 16/17 category provided they have parental and National Governing Body consent;
Minimum Age for Standard course: 16 years on race day
Minimum Age for Short course: 10 years on race day
OCR100 Event:
Qualification is necessary.
Minimum Age for OCR100event: 10 years on race day
Team Race:
Two types of team races: National Team Race and Competitive Team Race
National Team Race: Each National Federation can indicate one team for each category (1 Female team, 1 Male team, 1 Mixed team, 1 Adaptive Team).
Competitive Team Race: Any qualified athletes (Elite or Age Group) may form a team.
Qualification Criteria:
National Governing Bodies / National Federations of a country (NFs) have complete freedom on how to qualify/select athletes for Elite and Age Group categories or for the OCR100 race.
NFs are free to decide the number of athletes qualifying from a race and the qualification criteria.
Each NF will approve the qualification for their own licensed athletes.
Adaptive athletes:
It is up to the NFs, in their sole discretion, for adaptive athletes: whether they establish a qualification or invitation system to OCREC.
